This collection of documents, donated to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation by his family in 2020, consists of more than 9,500 documents: notebooks, sketches, studies and drawings, correspondence, public art projects, models, photo albums, books, and postcards. These are essential documents to know and understand David de Almeida’s life and artistic creation.

The conservation work consisted of cleaning, stabilizing, and organizing all the items and packaging them in appropriate conditions for their long-term preservation.

In terms of cataloging, a pre-processing of all the documentation was carried out, in which all the documents included in the archive were described in summary form.

This set of documents can now be searched through the Art Library’s catalogue.

The artist David Almeida is represented in the CAM collection of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
