Beatriz Costa (1907-1996)
The irreverent characters she represented in the magazine theater and cinema, in Portugal and Brazil, made Beatriz Costa the Portuguese most popular actress between the 1920s, when she began her career, and 1960, when withdrew.
Laura Alves (1921-1986)
She made her debut in 1935 in acting and throughout her career her talent was revealed both in the various theatrical genres and in cinema, in films such as O Leão da Estrela (1947).
Amélia Rey Colaço (1898-1990)
Actress and stage director, Amélia Rey Colaço is one of the greatest figures in the 20th century Portuguese theater. She and her husband, Robles Monteiro, founded the Companhia Rey Colaço-Robles Monteiro, a theater company active for 46 years in the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II. Under there direction, the company had scenarios created by artists such as Almada Negreiros, the cast included Palmira Bastos and Estevão Amarante, and representations based on texts from authors of national dramaturgy such as José Régio, Sttau Monteiro and Bernardo Santareno, and internationals as Jean Cocteau and Arthur Miller, among others.
Armanda Ofélia (m. 1984)
Winner of the contest “Looking for an actor and actress” sponsored by Diário de Lisboa and Emissora Nacional, with the collaboration of Companhia Rey Colaço-Robles Monteiro, held in February 1940.
Carmencita Aubert (1912-1979)
Born in Barcelona, where she began her acting career, Carmencita arrived in Portugal on tour in the same year that broke out the Spanish civil war. She ended up staying in Lisbon until the end of her life. She was a huge hit in the magazine theater.
