The Grand Auditorium

The majority of Gulbenkian Music Season events take place in the Grand Auditorium. With a capacity of 1172 seats and a unique acoustic, this hall is also perfectly equipped to host Theatre, Dance, Opera and Cinema performances.

Available Services and Equipment

Before the start of each performance and during the intermissions, enrich your experience by using the various services we offer, such as the foyer bar, the cloakroom or our bookshop.

Box office

Box office

The box office is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Sundays (performance days only) from 13:00 to 18:00. One hour before a performance, the box office will only sell tickets for that event.

Cloakroom

You can use our free cloakroom service to deposit bags, coats, umbrellas, musical instruments or other large objects which, for safety reasons, cannot be taken into the auditorium.

Foyer Bar

Foyer Bar

From one hour before the performance and during the intermissions, the foyer bar offers a wide range of products, and has a pleasant terrace in the garden.

Shop and Bookshop

Shop and Bookshop

While you are waiting for the performance to begin, or during the interval, take time to visit our shop and bookshop, where you will find Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation publications, exhibition catalogues and other articles.


Recommendations

Late arrivals

At classical music concerts, entrance in the auditorium is not allowed after the doors are closed, unless otherwise indicated by the room assistants. In order not to disturb the concentration of the musicians and the audience, you may have to occupy a different seat.

 

Age Restrictions

Music, dance, sports and similar performances are rated for people over 6 years old, in accordance with the terms of Law 23/2014, Article 27. However, for the film-concert series, the age rating of the film will be primarily considered.

 

No Smoking policy

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Grand Auditorium and in any other area of the Main Building or the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.


Accessibility

All areas of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, including the Garden, have special access and equipment for people with limited mobility. In the Grand Auditorium, there are designated areas for wheelchairs.

There are several outdoor and indoor ramps that facilitate the circulation of wheelchairs in all areas.

In our car park, next to the lifts, there are several parking slots for people with limited mobility.
