Gulbenkian Orchestra touring in Brazil
Following an invitation from Sociedade de Cultura Artística, a private non-profit institution based in São Paulo, and from Dell’Arte Soluções Culturais Ltda, based in Rio de Janeiro, the Gulbenkian Orchestra will be touring in Brazil from the 4th to the 11th November 2016.
Under the direction of Lawrence Foster and accompanied by Brazilian cellist Antonio Meneses, the Gulbenkian Orchestra will perform on the 6th November at Parque Ibirapuera, interpreting two movements from Édouard Lalo’s Cello Concerto and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.3.
On the 7th and 8th November, the iconic Sala São Paulo will receive the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Antonio Meneses in two concerts, featuring, among others, Deux Portraits Imaginaires, by Portuguese composer Pedro Amaral, and Dmitri Chostakovitch’s Cello Concerto No.1.
Finally, on the 9th, the orchestra will travel north, ending its journey with a performance at Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, interpreting Franz Schubert’s Symphony No.8, Édourad Lalo’s Cello Concerto, and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No.8.
