Grand Auditorium Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationThe Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra perform a programme that contains two pieces commissioned by the Shrine of Fatima: Salve Regina, by Eurico Carrapatoso, and The Sun Danced, by James MacMillan. These two new sacred works are joined by Górecki’s Symphony No. 3, composed as a set of three laments inspired by religiosity and popular Polish music. The occasion will also feature the renowned Portuguese soprano Elisabete Matos, who returns more than a decade after her last performance at Gulbenkian Music.
