Gulbenkian Orchestra and Pavel Gomziakov
A historical recording fully dedicated to Joseph Haydn, with the Gulbenkian Orchestra and the cellist Pavel Gomziakov, conducted by Erik Heide. For this new CD, an Onyx production, the Russian cellist played in a rare Stradivarius that belonged to king D.Luís I, built in 1725. It is one of the crown jewels from the collection of the Music Museum, which was classified as a National Treasure. It is the first time that the sound of this cello, the most valuable Portuguese instrument, is recorded. This CD includes Haydn’s Cello Concerto Nº1, in C Major, and Cello Concerto Nº2, in D Major.
