Paris-born mezzo soprano, Nora Gubisch brings her flair and charisma to the world’s greatest opera stages and concert platforms of today.

Nora Gubisch has interpreted roles in the operas of Carmen, Juditah triumphans (Vivaldi), Salammbô (Fenélon) at the Opéra de Paris, La Belle Hélène (Offenbach) at the Salzburg and Aix-En-Provence Festivals, The Rape of Lucretia (Britten) at the Opéra de Lyon, Salomé (Antoine Mariotte), Tancredi (Rossini), Thérèse (Massenet), Sesto (Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito), Penelope (Monteverdi’s, Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), Marguerite (Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust), Charlotte (Massenet’s Werther), Judith (Bluebeard’s Castle), Amneris (Aida), and Wagnerian roles including Magdalene (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Waltraute (Götterdämmerung) and Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde).

With a wide repertoire of orchestral song cycles, symphonies and oratorios, on the concert platform Nora Gubisch has performed under the batons of the late Sir Colin Davis, Georges Prêtre, Lorin Maazel, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, James Conlon, Christoph Eschenbach, Armin Jordan, with the orchestras of New York Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Dresden Staatskapelle, London Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and in her native France with Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Naitonal de France, Orchestre National de Lyon.

As a student in Paris music bought Nora Gubisch together with fellow student, internationally acclaimed conductor Alain Altinoglu, and in recital the duo regularly performs throughout Europe. For the Naïve label they have recorded two critically acclaimed CDs of Duparc and Ravel Melodies and Folk Songs. Her distinguished discography includes Tippett’s ‘A Child of our Time’ with Dresden Staatskapelle and Sir Colin Davis, Dusapin’s ‘Perelà’ with the Opera Orchestre National de Montpellier and Alain Altinoglu, Offenbach’s Rheinnixen, Humperdinck’s Königskinder with Jonas Kaufmann under the baton of Armin Jordan, Kodàly Hary Janos Suite, Lancino Requiem, and Escaich’s ‘Les Nuits hallucinées’ with Orchestre National de Lyon and Jun Märkl.

Recent highlights have included Die rote Lanterne of Christian Jost for the Opernhaus Zürich, Carmen for Deutsche Opera Berlin, Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle in Vienna, and at the Festival de Montpellier for Lalo’s La Jacquerie in Summer 2015. During 2015/16 she will perform in concert for the Tonhalle Zurich’s New Year’s concert, with the orchestra of La Monnaie, Brussels, and the role of Charlotte at the Barcelona Liceu in Massenet’s Werther.

In 2014 Nora Gubisch was appointed a Chevaliers of the “Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” in Paris, where she makes her home with her family.
