His recent success in the main role of El Público, by Mauricio Sotelo at the Teatro Real in Madrid proves the great moment of José Antonio Lopez, who regularly performs in theaters and festivals all over Europe, such as the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Viena, Prinzregententheater  in Munich, Berwaldhallen in Stockholm, Warsaw Philharmonic, Halle aux Grains in Toulouse or  the Theater an der Wien, where he offered a recital with Maurizio Pollini. He has also performed in major concert halls and venues in Spain: Teatro Real, Auditorio Nacional de Música, Teatro de la Zarzuela and l’Auditori in Barcelona. Throughout his career he has performed an extensive concert repertoire from Bach to Brahms, and includes Mahler, Zemlinsky and Schoenberg Gurrelieder, recorded for Deutsche Grammophon.

Last year he performed Ein Deutsches Requiem at Bruxelles Bozar with Maestro Boreyko and in the current season, among other commitments, he will sing St. Matthew Passion at the Musikverein in Vienna and the German Requiem at the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico.

In opera, he has sung numerous roles of Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti and a lot of zarzuelas. He is expanding his repertoire, and has recently joined roles as Germont, Amonasro or Iago, of Verdi, and Strauss’s Jokanaan.
