After studying economic science, Jean Teitgen joined the CNSM in Paris where he graduated with a Master in voice and received a singing award.

His wide repertoire stretches from Baroque (Bellérophon et Cadmus et Hermione by Lully, Vénus et Adonis by Desmaret, Pirame et Thisbé by Rebel and Francoeur, Castor et Pollux at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées…) to 20th century music (L’Amour des trois oranges in Florence and Geneva, WozzeckDer König Kandaules, The Wedding by Stravinsky in Nancy, Œdipe at La Monnaie in Brussels, The Rape of Lucretia in Nantes and A Midsummer night’s dream in Nancy…) not to mention Mozart (La Clemenza di Tito, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni…)

He also has a strong liking for the great Italian repertoire: Puccini (La Bohème), Rossini (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Donizetti (Lucia di Lammermoor)… Thanks to his rich and strong voice, he is known as an acclaimed interpreter of Verdi’s operas (Nabucco, Macbeth, Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra, Aida…) and of the French repertoire (La Muette de Portici by Auber at Opéra Comique, L’Étoile by Chabrier in Bergen, Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande, Abimelech in Samson et Dalila, Scaurus in Les Barbares by Saint-Saëns…).

Guest of some of the most prestigious Opera houses, he has been heard at the Theater an der Wien, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, La Monnaie in Brussels, in Bergen, Utrecht, Dublin, Luxemburg, Lausanne, Liège, Monte-Carlo, Covent Garden, at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino… In France, he has performed at the Opéra Comique, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, but also at the Opera houses of Versailles, Avignon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nantes, Marseille, Rouen, Nice, Nancy, Strasbourg or even at the Chorégies d’Orange…

He has thus sung under the baton of Rani Calderon, Giuliano Carella, Pierre Dumoussaud Laurence Equilbey, Mikko Franck, Leo Hussain, Louis Langrée, Francesco Lanzillotta, Marc Minkowski, John Nelson, Hervé Niquet, Antonio Pappano, Evelino Pidò, Michel Plasson, Christophe Rousset, Simone Young… and in productions staged by Emmanuelle Bastet, David Bobbée, Henning Brockhaus, Mariame Clément, Jérôme Deschamps, Paul-Émile Fourny, Éric Lascade, Francesco Micheli, Frédéric Roels or Éric Ruf.

More recently, he made his debut, acclaimed by the critics, as Bancoin Macbeth. He also sang La Bohème(Colline) in Montpellier, Lucrezia BorgiaGuillaume Tell (Melchtal) and La Vestale by Spontini at La Monnaie in Brussels, Les Vêpres Siciliennes at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Roméo et Juliette (Frère Laurent) in Monte-Carlo and Oman, Don Giovanni (Leporello) in Bergen, Rouen, Versailles, Carmen in Orange, Madrid at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and at the Opera House Covent Garden, Mârouf, savetier du Caire by Rabaud in Bordeaux and at the Opéra Comique, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, Pelléas et Mélisande (Arkel) at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, La Nonne sanglante (Pierre l’Ermite) by Gounod at the Opéra Comique, Les Pêcheurs de perles in Strasbourg and Nancy, Lohengrin (Heinrich) in Rouen and Nantes, Lucia di Lammermoor in Bordeaux, Nancy and Toulon, Aida (Ramphis) at the Opéra national de Lorraine, La Gioconda in a new stage by Olivier Py at La Monnaie in Brussels…

In concert he sang Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the Opéra national de Lorraine, L’Enfance du Christ in Utrecht and at the Paris’ Philharmonie, Persée by Lully in Metz, Versailles and at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Das Rheingold (Fasolt) in Dublin, Proserpine by Saint-Saëns in Munich and Versailles, Ascanio at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Monsieur Beaucaire by Messager in concert version at the Radio-France Auditorium, Les Troyens in concert versionwith the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg under the baton of John Nelson, Thaïs (Palémon) in concert version at the Teatro Real in Madrid and in Peralada…
