Esther Georgie was born in Michigan, United States of America. Her mother was a pianist and her father an organist and she began to play piano at the age of three. She graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded several prizes, including the Frederick Thurston Memorial Prize. At that time, she also won the International Young Concert Artists Competition and the Young Artists’ Platform in London. Sir David Willcocks invited her to play the Brahms Quintet with the Auriol Quartet in the presence of HRH the Prince of Wales. She played 1st Clarinet with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in the year in which the orchestra celebrated its 150th anniversary, including a gala concert in the presence of Queen Elizabeth.

In 1987, she became 1st Clarinet Soloist of the Gulbenkian Orchestra, having previously performed as a soloist on many occasions. She is a founding member of the Bartikian Trio and more recently is a member of a wind quintet made up of soloists from the Gulbenkian Orchestra. She also plays regularly in duet with clarinettist João Pedro Santos. Mervyn Cooke, Ivan Moody and Diogo Alvim have all dedicated new works to her.
