David Burt

Trumpet

Born in Minnesota, United States of America, David Burt completed his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Kansas, his Master’s and Performer’s Certificate at the Eastman School of Music, and his PhD at the University of Minnesota. He had as teachers David Baldwin, Manny Laureano, Barbara Butler, Charles Geyer and Roger Stoner.

He has performed solo with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Orquestra Nacional do Porto, the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and the ICE Contemporary Ensemble.  He has recorded for the Telarc, EMI, Sony and Innova labels with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Eastman Wind Ensemble and ICE Contemporary Ensemble.

In 2004, his trumpet class performed at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Denver, Colorado. In 2005, the trumpet class went to Manchester, England. In 2006 and 2007, his trumpet group performed again at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey, and at the University of Massachusetts.

David Burt has been a member of the Gulbenkian Orchestra since 1999.  He is Assistant Teacher of Trumpet at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, and Professor of Trumpet at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra.
