Austrian Pianist Christian Koch has been accompanying singers on the piano since he was 15.

His passion for Lied and opera has become his profession and he is highly appraised by singers not only as partner in recitals but also as a coach for voice, style and repertoire.

Furthermore Christian Koch worked as musical assistant to Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Daniel Harding (Salzburg Festival), Réné Jacobs and Pierre Boulez (Festival Aix-en-Provence, Theater an der Wien), Valery Gergiev (Mariinsky Theater St. Petersburg) and others which led him also to conducting.

His partners on stage or in coaching are Thomas Hampson, Bernarda Fink, Luca Pisaroni, Michael Schade, Annette Dasch, Patricia Petibon, Giorgio Berrugi, Florian Bösch, Tommi Hakala, Dorothea Röschmann, Daniel Schmutzhard, Daniel Behle, Thomas Tatzl, Annely Peebo, Alexandra Reinprecht and many others.

Christian Koch has performed to critical acclaim at many prestigious venues, including  the Musikverein Wien, Wiener Konzerthaus,  Wigmore Hall London, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Salle Pleyel Paris, Palau de la Musica Catalana Barcelona, Philharmonie Berlin or at distinguished festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein-Festival, the Wiener Festwochen or the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg.

One of the recent highlights of Christian Kochs concert season is an opera gala with Thomas Hampson and Luca Pisaroni called “No tenors allowed” at the Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, in Lisbon and Germany, as well as a Liederabend with mainly Heinrich Heine lyrics together with Florian Boesch and Thomas Quasthoff. In Cologne, Amsterdam and Utrecht Christian Koch is performing Kreneks “Reisebuch aus den österreichischen Alpen” again with bass-baritone Florian Boesch.

Christian Koch was a renowned teacher at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst, Wien as well as the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien.
