Carolina Coimbra

Harp

Carolina Coimbra was born in 1992 in Vila Nova de Gaia. She regularly works with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Casa da Música Porto Symphony Orchestra, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra and Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra. She joined the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra in the 2017 season.

Her work as a soloist has included taking part in festivals such as the RioHarp Festival, 12th World Harp Congress (Sydney), Académie Lyon Printemps de la Musique (France), Arpissima Festival (Italy), Salsomaggiore Harp Festival (Italy), 1st Harpweek Uppsala (Sweden), Young Celebrity HarpMasters (Switzerland), 2nd Porto International Harp Competition and Metropolitan Soloists. She also dedicates herself to chamber music, frequently performing with the horn player Gabriele Amarù and flautist Nuno Inácio.

Carolina Coimbra has won various international awards: Suoni d’arpa 2017 (Saluzzo, Italy, 2nd Prize); 26th Concorso Riviera della Versilia “D. Ridolfi” (2017, Italy, 2nd Prize); 18th International Competition Petar Konjovic (Serbia, 1st Prize); 1st Concurso de Harpa da Escola Nossa Senhora do Cabo (Portugal, 1st Prize); 4th Concorso Internazionale di Arpa Marcel Tournier (Italy, 1st Prize); and 11th Concurso “Arpa Plus” (Spain, 2nd Prize).

In 2017, she completed postgraduate studies under Professor Irina Zingg at Scuola Civica di Musica Claudio Abbado in Milan and in 2015 a master of arts in Music Performance under Sarah O’Brien, Irina Zingg and Catherine Michel at Zurich University of the Arts. She currently teaches harp at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.
