Biagio Pizzuti

Baritone

Born in Salerno in 1987, he began his piano studies at the age of 8 years, graduating in piano and vocal studies with the highest marks, praise and honor at the “G.Martucci” conservatory in Salerno; At the same time he obtains a degree in Pharmacy at the University of the same city.

He specialized with Rolando Panerai, Renato Bruson and Alessandro Corbelli and attended the Opera Studio of the Santa Cecilia Academy of Rome under the guidance of soprano Renata Scotto.

He later joined the Opera Opera Ensemble at the Carlo Felice Theater in Genova, debuting in Gianni Schicchi and La Bohème in the roles of Marcello and Schaunard; He also starred Gregorio in the Romeo et Juliette’s production directed by Fabio Luisi and recorded on CD by DECCA.

He won the 64th As.Li.Co contest, winning the debut as Dulcamara in L’Elisir d’Amore in the theaters of the As.Li.Co. And the following year he won the Spoleto International European Community Competition, debuting the protagonist role in Gianni Schicchi. He recently won the 47th Toti dal Monte in Treviso competition, winning the role of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti.

Mr.Pizzuti sang Leporello in Don Giovanni in Canada and participated at Massenet’s Cléopâtre at the Pentecost Festival in Salzburg; he was Sharpless in the Madama Butterfly in Spoleto, Betto in Gianni Schicchi at the An der Wien Theater in Wien and at the Teatro Comunale in Florence, Leporello in Don Giovanni in Maribor, the main role in Don Giovanni in Ferrara, Don Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia of Rossini, Masetto in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Fabrizio and Pacuvio in La pietra del paragone at the Thèâtre du Châtelet in Paris under Spinosi and Barberio Corsetti. He also sang as a soloist in the 9th Beethoven Symphony at Bellini Theater in Catania.

Among the recent and future commitments: Guglielmo in the Così fan tutte in Liverpool, Don Prudenzio in the new production of Il viaggio a Reims in Amsterdam with the direction of Damiano Michieletto, Schaunard in La Bohème at Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri at the Theater of the Opera in Florence, Requiem of Fauré at the Verona Philharmonic Theater, Belcore in L’Elisir d’amore at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Macrobio in La pietra del paragone at the Teatro lirico di Cagliari and Leporello in Don Giovanni in Basel, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Comunale “Mario Del Monaco” in Treviso and Teatro Comunale “C.Abbado” of Ferrara. He will debut at the Arena di Verona Opera Festival as Moralès and Dancairo from Carmen in the summer 2018 and will be Dottor Malatesta from Don Pasquale at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.

He will record Handel’s Serse (Elviro) and Agrippina (Lesbo) for Deutsche Grammophon.
