Aris Quartett
Founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2009, the Aris Quartet regularly perform on the world’s great stages: in the upcoming season the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, London’s Wigmore Hall, the Philharmonie de Paris, Musikverein Wien, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, BBC Proms and San Francisco Chamber Music Society amongst others.
The four musicians were brought together at a young age on the initiative of chamber music professor Hubert Buchberger – what begins as an experiment at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts soon proves to be a stroke of good fortune. The quartet’s memorable name is an impromptu decision, ARIS being the four last letters of the four musicians’ first names.
Following studies with Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet) in Madrid, the quartet soon achieved their international breakthrough upon winning several first prizes at prestigious competitions. The Aris Quartet attracted wide attention after receiving the Chamber Music Award of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation as well as no fewer than five awards at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. In addition, the quartet received two of the most prestigious international distinctions for young musicians when they are selected as New Generation Artists by the BBC, now followed by their nomination as ECHO Rising Stars.
The Aris Quartet were nominated by the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Konzerthaus Dortmund
