The conductor Michel Corboz returns to Verdi’s Requiem, an unforgettable work in his long, fertile relationship with the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra. His recording of the Requiem for Erato/Virgin Classics has garnered enormous critical and popular acclaim, and is a key part of Corboz’s and the Gulbenkian ensembles’ discography. As Chief Conductor of the Gulbenkian Choir since 1969, his musical personality is so imprinted on the identity of the group that the two blend together, as so often happens in cases where the music reflects a deep closeness.
