Fantasy Homage to Schubert

Franz Schubert

Symphony No. 8, in B minor, D. 759, “Unfinished”
Total approximate duration: 120 min

In this programme we will hear Alban Berg’s final completed work, his fascinating Violin Concerto, completed in 1935 just months before his death, as well as Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, left unfinished by the composer in 1822. These two works are joined by Blumine, inspired by a popular German poem and originally conceived as the second movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. From Bulgarian-British composer Dobrinka Tabakova, we will hear an inspired homage to Schubert.
