The performance of live film soundtracks has been very successful in the most recent Gulbenkian Music seasons. This time, the Gulbenkian Orchestra accompanies the screening of The Wizard of Oz, a film directed by Victor Fleming in 1939 with the enthralling Judy Garland as the protagonist. It is an irresistible fantasy that has become a cinema classic. The song “Over the Rainbow”, composed by Harold Arlen for the film, was voted Song of the Century by the Record Industry Association and declared the most celebrated ever by the American Film Institute.
