The Creation, Hob.XXI:2

*Replacing Ana Quintans

After a memorable performance of David Perez’s Mattutino de Morti in November, Argentinian conductor Leonardo García Alarcón conducts the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Choir once again this season,  presenting Haydn’s The Creation. The composition of The Creation lasted two years, between 1796 and 1798, since Haydn wanted to bequeath, with unsurpassed intent and preciousness, a work for posterity. This night’s presentation confirms the quality of a gesture which was indeed projected into the future.
