Jorge Matta conducts the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra in an event that is already one of the traditions of Gulbenkian Music, the “Te Deum at São Roque”. This time it presents the first modern performance of the Te Deum Laudamus by Brás Francisco de Lima (1752-1813). Brother of the famous Jerónimo Francisco de Lima (1743-1822), Brás Francisco de Lima was also sent to Italy by King José in order to refine his musical abilities. He then took the position of master in the Patriarchal Seminary, but he did not leave us a great deal of work.  There is only one set of ten scores in Lisbon Cathedral, all from the years that preceded his trip to Italy.
