Grand Auditorium Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationThough born in Taiwan, Ray Chen grew up and graduated in Australia. He is a young violinist of extraordinary technical resources, who was recently described by the Washington Post as “a phenomenal talent.” In 2012 he became the youngest soloist to perform at the Nobel Prize awards ceremony. He makes his debut at Gulbenkian Music under the direction of China’s most prominent orchestral conductor, Long Yu, Artistic Director of the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra, the Beijing Music Festival and the Shanghai and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestras. The programme is entirely dedicated to two masterpieces by Tchaikovsky, and is Long Yu’s debut leading the Gulbenkian Orchestra.
