El Sistema Residency

Groups from Venezuela’s El Sistema have been part of Gulbenkian Music since October 2015, as part of an extended residency which will be concluded during the 2017/18 season. The Simón Bolívar String Quartet, made up of principal musicians from the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, is committed to musical excellence, but also aims to promote chamber music amongst young people and contribute to the development of a network of Venezuelan and South American quartets.
