Gulbenkian Orchestra / Raphaël Pichon

Event Slider

As countertenor, Raphaël Pichon has worked with conductors such as Jordi Savall, Gustav Leonhardt, or Ton Koopman. However, he quickly gained his place in musical conducting by founding the baroque ensemble Pygmalion in 2006. His leadership of Pygmalion and their period interpretations earned Pichon the reputation that would affirm him as one of the most respected specialists in the work of J. S. Bach. His meticulous dramaturgical approach to concerts would also earn him a regular spot at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and he has worked with top directors such as Katie Mitchell and Romeo Castellucci. Today he is, without doubt, one of European music’s most exciting conductors.
