Despite a dazzling career as a pop music star, Rufus Wainwright has long entertained a passionate relationship with opera. Prima Donna, his first operatic work, inspired by Maria Callas and premiered in Manchester in 2009, is now recaptured in a show that includes excerpts accompanied by a video creation by Francesco Vezzoli, featuring Cindy Sherman as Maria Callas. Following the first part dedicated to Maria Callas, Wainwright moves on to orchestral recreations of some of his most known themes, Broadway classics and some of his opera preferences.
