RCO meets Lisbon

In August 2016, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam (RCO) began the RCO Meets Europe tour, whose aim is to include performances in each of the member states of the European Union over two and a half years. “In the repertoire, in spirit and in practice, the tour will serve to enhance the ideas and fundamental ideals that keep Europe together and make up its essence”, the RCO claims. In each country visited, the opening concert is a shared performance with a local youth orchestra – in this case, the Estágio Gulbenkian para Orquestra (Gulbenkian Youth Orchestra). The renowned pianist sisters Katia and Marielle Labèque will also be special guests for the occasion.
