Among the many hundreds of pieces based on Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare’s theatrical classic, the French composer Charles Gounod’s opera is surely one of the most popular and most performed worldwide. Under the direction of Lorenzo Viotti, in March 2019 the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Choir presented this masterpiece in a production staged by Vincent Huguet.
