Location
Grand Auditorium Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationThis is the third appearance of conductor Ernest Martínez-Izquierdo. In addition to his preference for violin concertos, conducting in this programme Violin Concerto No. 1 by the German composer Max Bruch, he is also known for the special attention he devotes to Spanish composers and a repertoire linked to his home country. Capriccio espagnol, the orchestral suite by Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov, is based precisely on Spanish popular tunes. The second part will be devoted to a selection by the Catalan conductor from the music of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet ballet.
