The French pianist Roger Muraro performed for the first time at Gulbenkian Música in 2018, and was the soloist for Vasco Mendonça’s debut concert and recording of Step Right Up. In the same year, Spanish conductor Juanjo Mena made his debut with the Gulbenkian Orchestra. This season they are joining forces with the Gulbenkian Orchestra to interpret a programme that expresses the great versatility of both musicians. Mussorgsky’s famous Prelude Dawn on the Moscow River and a less frequently performed Rudolf Barshai arrangement of Shostakovitch’s String Quartet No. 8, op. 110, complement a programme highlighting two iconic works for piano and orchestra by Ravel.
