Radu Lupu, one of the greatest pianists of our time, has been a regular presence in the Gulbenkian Music seasons – in January 2015 he performed three times in the Great Auditorium, solo and with the Gulbenkian Orchestra. The Romanian pianist has long secured his place among the greatest performers ever of the works of Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Schubert and Schumann. In an article for The New Yorker, Leo Carey wrote: “you have to go and hear when you get the chance” and recalled the words of Mitsuko Uchida who considered Radu Lupu “the most talented man I have ever met.”
