Francis Poulenc

Concerto for Two Pianos in D minor
— Intermission of 20 min —

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551, Júpiter
Total approximate duration: 120 min

Francis Poulenc composed his Concerto for Two Pianos in 1932 in response to a commission from Princess Edmond de Polignac, premiering the work that same year at the Venice Festival. Generous in humour and lightness as much as in virtuosity and lyricism, the piece soon gained great popularity and is now performed at Gulbenkian Music by brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen, a piano duo of remarkable emotional and interpretative affinity. Hannu Lintu conducts the two Dutch pianists in concert, as well as the final symphonies by Haydn and Mozart.
