Voted best new French musician in 2014 by Jazz Magazine, the violinist and violist Théo Ceccaldi has proved to be one of the most inventive musicians of the European jazz scene since, in 2010, he formed the Tricollectif project. Accompanied by Alexandra Grimal in leading the Petite Moutarde quartet, Ceccaldi leads an unfettered, restless sound, sometimes closer to chamber jazz. During Jazz em Agosto, the group will accompany Surrealist films of the 1920s – a particular interest of the musician – directed by René Clair, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray.
