Peter Brötzmann remains unaffected by the passage of time, and continues to be a powerhouse of surprises. Last year, two remarkable albums once again roused the jazz scene: his collaboration with the Portuguese stoner rock and psychedelic trio Black Bombaim and the 2015 recording with the North-American Heather Leigh, an original performer of pedal steel guitar who has already crossed paths with Chris Corsano and Thurston Moore. Ears Are Filled with Wonder, the name given to the encounter captured in Cracow, imparts a more relaxed tone than usual for Brötzmann, allowing his creative spark to take on more lyrical and meditative nuances.
