After having won the First Prize of the social entrepreneurship contest “Ideas of Portuguese Origin”, promoted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2013, Orquestra XXI has been featured at the beginning of each new season. The ensemble, which is unique for gathering together Portuguese musicians who live abroad, is joined this time by the pianist Artur Pizarro, another example of a successful experience abroad. This evening’s Romantic programme was designed as a result of this collaboration, with Pizarro interpreting with the orchestra the momentous Piano Concerto no. 1 by Brahms.
