Orquestra Juvenil Geração
Orquestra Geração/Sistema Portugal was founded in 2007/2008 in Amadora through a partnership between the Municipality of Amadora, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Music School of the National Conservatory, inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema.
Over the past 18 years, Orquestra Geração has become a flagship project for social inclusion through orchestral music. Its success has been shaped by exchanges with Venezuelan teachers and conductors, the support of the Ministry of Education and the municipalities that have joined the initiative, as well as by private partners who share the conviction that music, the arts and culture are essential and irreplaceable in the full development of both societies and individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs or social circumstances.
Today, the project reaches more than 1,700 children and young people, many of whom have gone on to pursue specialised music studies at leading institutions in Portugal and abroad.

José Jesús Olivetti
José Jesús Olivetti is a young Venezuelan violinist and conductor who trained within the renowned National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela (El Sistema), where he began his musical journey at the age of eight. He studied violin with Savino D’Addona, Rubén Camacho and Francisco Díaz, and began his conducting studies with Tarcísio Barreto. He received training from Maestro José Antonio Abreu not only in orchestral conducting, but also in the design, planning and implementation of musical and orchestral projects. He later continued his studies in Europe with distinguished conductors including Jorma Panula, Colin Metters, Alex Treger and Maurice Hamers.
Olivetti has participated in numerous international festivals and advanced training programmes, working with the Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra, the Burgas State Opera, the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra.
He has conducted major festivals and projects with Orquestra Geração in Portugal, as well as with national and international orchestras in Switzerland, Portugal, Spain and other countries. In 2023, he was among the winners of the Düsseldorf International Conducting Festival.
As a conductor and guest conductor, he has collaborated with orchestras across the world, promoting access to classical music for international audiences.
Alongside his artistic career, José Jesús Olivetti combines his musical activities with a strong social commitment. Through the Olivetti Foundation, which he founded, he develops projects aimed at supporting young talent, including the international competition Tocar y Luchar, sustainable support for orchestras in Angola and Mozambique, and specialised training programmes and lectures for musicians and educators in Medellín, Colombia.
He also created the Meet the Community project, designed as a bridge between the orchestras he conducts, regional music schools and young musicians. The initiative promotes cultural, musical and artistic exchange, offering young people the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the work and reality of a professional orchestra.
Olivetti completed his studies at the Leopold Mozart College of Music of the University of Augsburg, where he studied conducting with Professor Maurice Hamers and violin with Professor Senta Kraemer. He was awarded scholarships by the Theodor Rogler Foundation in Germany and the Elena Probst Foundation in Switzerland.
José Jesús Olivetti is currently Music Director of the Philludiker Orchester München, the Bodensee Ärzteorchester and the Garchinger Sinfonieorchester. He is also a violinist with the Seraphin Ensemble München and the Münchner Kammerphilharmonie Dacapo.

In the year of its 18th anniversary, the Orquestra Juvenil Geração once again performs under the direction of Venezuelan conductor José Jesús Olivetti.
The concert brings together more than 100 young musicians on stage from all the Orquestra Geração centres across the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (Almada, Amadora, Lisbon, Loures, Oeiras, Sesimbra and Vila Franca de Xira).
All ticket proceeds will support Orquestra Geração.
