Founder and artistic director of OrchestrUtopica, José Júlio Lopes, began by composing music for the stage, subsequently expanding his work to pieces for chamber orchestra and for voice and piano. Corpus is based on the concept of the singularity and frailty of the body, as if the harmonic progressions were infectious. Composed for a large orchestra, it reserves a special role for Artur Pizarro’s piano. «I write for Artur like a playwright who writes with a specific actor in mind», the composer explains.
