Sinfonia nº 3, em Ré menor (versão de 1877)
Waltraud Meier became known for a number of prodigious interpretations of the Wagnerian opera repertoire, and she is for many the greatest interpreter of our time of the German composers work. After her first stunning success in Parsifal in the role of Kundry, at the Beyreuth Festival in 1983, her rising career gained momentum and, in the same mythical festival, she was repeatedly acclaimed in a production of Tristan and Isolde staged by Heiner Müller and conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Bruckner, an admirer of Wagners music, quoted the Bayreuth conductor and dedicated his Third Symphony to him.
