Rachmaninov Preludes

As Director of the Rachmaninoff Festival, Nikolai Lugansky has long established himself as one of the great interpreters of the Russian composer’s piano repertoire. Having left his teacher astounded by memorising the whole of Sergei Rachmaninff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in just three days and having recorded the Études-Tableaux at the age of 19, he has never lost sight of Rachmaninoff as his career took off, and he considers his works to be a constant and refreshing object of passion. Along with Rachmaninoff, Fryderyk Chopin, also in the programme, is one of those composers whose work is best suited to the pianist’s interpretation.
