In the year celebrating the 50 years of Michel Corboz as Principal Conductor of the Gulbenkian Choir, the Swiss maestro conducts the Petite Messe Solennelle, by Rossini, recorded under general acclaim with his Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne. It was written and debuted in1864, over 30 years after the composer completed the operas which rightly earned him notoriety. Commissioned by a Parisian bourgeois family, Rossini’s piece would claim its universal appeal in the years to come.
