The choral work De Profundis, by António Pinho Vargas, would not exist without the relationship built up earlier with the conductor Paulo Lourenço with the Requiem and the Magnificat, also by Pinho Vargas. At the request of the conductor for a choral piece for his students, Pinho Vargas set about writing an a cappella piece that he had never dared dream about before, but which was recorded on CD in 2017 by the Gulbenkian Choir and Paulo Lourenço. The piece Mother of God and Virgin (Bogoróditse Djévo) by Arvo Pärt, from a text of adoration and praise for the Virgin Mary from the Russian Orthodox liturgy, is also part of the programme for the Music at S. Roque cycle.
