Mitsuko Uchida Piano

Ludwig van Beethoven
Diabelli Variations, op. 120

The brilliant pianist Mitsuko Uchida, regular guest of Gulbenkian Music, states that understanding the functioning of music is a life-long endeavour – and not limited to the technical mastery of the piano. Therefore, in the year of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven, Uchida decided to return to the demanding and extraordinary Diabelli Variations, whose previous rendition earned her the most enthusiastic praises for capturing the essence of each of the variations, while, surprisingly, intimately connecting them through the same structuring arch.
