With nominations for five Grammy awards, Miguel Poveda has, in the last two decades, become one of flamenco’s greatest voices, but at the same time he has never allowed himself to be limited by the more purist view of the genre. His career includes examples of a departure from the more traditional flamenco, such as the albums Desglaç, with jazz pianist Agustí Fernández, Qawwali Jondo, which converges with Sufi music with Duquende and Faiz Ali Faiz, and Diálogos – De Buenos Aires a Granada, in which he ventures into the tango. His latest album, Sonetos y Poemas para la Libertad, is dedicated to the great poets of the Spanish language.
