The son of Daniel Barenboim and Elena Bashkirova, as a young violinist Michael soon stood out as one of the most promising talents to emerge in recent times. With a superb stylistic elasticity, he has been consolidating for some time his reputation as one of the most authoritative interpreters of the work of Pierre Boulez, a composer with whom he has developed a considerable history of collaboration. In the prestigious Gramophone magazine, his talent was described as “makes it all sound easy, with performances spilling over with life and drama”.
