Ever since his debut in international piano competitions, a bright future has been foreseen for Mao Fujita. In 2023, when he performed for the first time at Carnegie Hall, the Japanese pianist delighted the critics, with The New York Times writing that “When his fingers touched the keys, though, waves of airy filigree, beautifully formed and finished, emerged in almost uninterrupted streams”. He will make his debut at Gulbenkian Music, demonstrating all his versatile expressiveness in a repertoire that ranges from Beethoven to Berg.
