When Lucas Debargue made his world debut in Moscow in 2015, Olivier Bellamy on the Huffington Post website didn’t spare his praise: “There hasn’t been a foreign pianist who has caused such a stir since Glenn Gould’s arrival in Moscow in the midst of the Cold War, or Van Cliburn’s victory at the Tchaikovsky Competition.” Keen to present to the public less well-known works, the artistic vision and creative freedom of a talent that claims its rightful place have left their mark from the start. Four years later, he has his premiere in Gulbenkian Music.
