One of the most unexpected ensembles in this programme designed by John Zorn, with Julian Lage, whose fame hit a new peak on the cover of Downbeat last March, and Gyan Riley, the son of Terry Riley, with whom he plays regularly, performing as an acoustic guitar duo, with a repertoire inspired by Shakespeare’s lunar imagery. This is music of unsuspected beauty, reflective and melancholy, with a rare candour in the work of Zorn.
