With his Hespèrion XXI and La Capella Reial de Catalunya ensembles in mind, Jordi Savall has devised a programme based on a selection of texts and music focused on the rise and fall of the most remarkable of the cities of Muslim Spain – Granada. The city that was the political and cultural centre of Al-Andalus, conquered by the Catholic Kings in 1492, is the theme for another extraordinary journey undertaken by the Catalan musician, whose prodigious and tireless activity has always defended music as one of the most powerful forces of understanding and knowledge amongst men, and the most convincing of arguments against discord and in favour of peace.
