Grand Auditorium Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationFrom the beginning of his career, the brilliant talent of the pianist Javier Perianes has gone hand in hand with a very special attention to the music of his own country. Being Spanish gives Perianes “an affinity with the colours, the sonorities, the rhythms,” of the compositions of composers like Manuel de Falla and Isaac Albéniz, “although Manuel de Falla was influenced tremendously by Debussy and by Ravel”, he said in an interview. However, there are in these composers echoes of flamenco and local aesthetic nuances that only someone like Perianes knows how to explore in depth.
