Grand Auditorium Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationKnown not only for her talent as a pianist, but also for her environmental activism, Hélène Grimaud joined the two parts of her life in her latest album Water: Water as a source of life, as a key asset to be preserved, but also as a source of inspiration. In her search for a repertoire that alluded to this element, she had no difficulty finding a selection of compositions by Berio, Albeniz, Debussy, Fauré, Janáček, Liszt, Ravel and Takemitsu, which share the same sensations. This programme was premièred in an installation at Park Avenue Armory in New York, and defined by The New York Times as “compelling, boldly original work.”
