Location
Grand Auditorium Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationFollowing his last visit in 2016, the prodigious Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel returns to the Grand Auditorium, once again leading a different orchestra – a hallmark of his appearances in Gulbenkian Música. Dudamel will conduct the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, founded by Claudio Abbado in 1997 and today a leading reference in European music. The two conductors worked together in Venezuela, at which time Dudamel was won over by Abbado’s enthusiasm, studying and discovering a work by Mahler that he had often interpreted, as if it were the first time. This moment became a watershed moment for Dudamel.
