In recent years, Georgian violinist Lisa Batiashvili has accumulated a chorus of praise so consensual that she has become a recurring name in the seasons of the most prestigious European halls. In 2016/17 she was a resident artist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, with whom she recorded, with Daniel Barenboim, and received unanimous acclaim. In Gramophone magazine, Edward Seckerson wrote that “There is something so super-intuitive about her playing that, while she is performing, the brilliance of her technique, the range of her colours and the sheer invention of her phrasing are subsumed into the intrigue (there seems to be no other word) of her musical storytelling.”
